At the Department of Sociology and Social Work, we have a person dedicated to support pre-award funding activities (Bo Møller Lange). He has a broad portfolio of different types of services provided to the scientific staff regarding grants and funding of research:
The funding supporter can inform you about current and general funding opportunities but also enter a dialogue about specific project ideas and participate in the early idea phase screening for funding possibilities. Once a funding possibility is identified, the funding supporter will help the researcher target the application for the call and make sure that the conditions is met as stated in the call (ensure that formalities are complied with/quality control).
The funding support gives input to all parts of the application (and in some cases also the scientific content). This includes:
- Preparing the budget for the application in dialogue with the researcher.
- Reading/commenting on the project idea compared with the call and comment on text composition/structure in the proposal and presentation.
- Collecting CVs and list of publications from PI, partners, and other documents such as statements of collaboration and make sure that these comply with the formal requirements.
- Providing instructions to partners about what is expected by them in order to the complete the application.
- Obtaining signatures if needed and make sure that the head of department approve budgets and co-financing, if any.
- Helping with any electronic application systems/portals, uploading documents and assisting on documents in general (gather and control) and make sure that nothing is missing in order to complete the application.
- If needed, the supporter can also contact the funder e.g. in order to make sure that we understand and interpret the call text in a correct manner.
Please also see the central Fundraising and Project Management website for useful information on all aspects of the pre- and postward process (e.g. pre-award tool box, funding tips and a page dedicated to EU funding).
